This project aims at two basic goals-developing scientific temperament in students and exposing them to various career options in science. It is usually a 3 to 4 days engaging workshop in a fun-filled format that introduces children of classes 8-10 to hands-on explorations and relate textbook matter to real-life connections while exploring careers like engineering, medicine, biotechnology, architecture, astronomy, forensic science, environment , science journalism, and mathematics. 20 students from various schools in a block are selected and specially trained in activity based learning. These specially trained students, back in their individual schools -carry out hands-on activities with readily available materials around them. The program is accompanied by a show, where children of host school along with teachers and parents witness some science and maths feats performed by our experts and later participate in an open discussion.

We organize a series of fascinating shows with an objective to take children through a journey in which they discover multiple perspectives towards the subject. Each show stimulates, fascinates and motivates students towards the subject. It is a journey from “wow to how”, where children are first amazed and then discover the working principle behind these magical experiences.

Wow Maths Show is this hour long show, we demonstrate some amazing mathematical feats to fascinate children towards the subject. This show anticipates active audience participation throughout and stimulates thinking skills. It increases their appreciation for essential and fascinating ways mathematics informs our lives. It inspires children by demonstrating the power of mind and makes them believe that everybody can learn and master mathematics.

Wow Science Show show demonstrates some very amazing scientific models, activities and phenomena relating them. Scientifically designed toys are used to demonstrate principles of science and arouse a sense of delight and curiosity among the children. The show sets up a challenging and enjoyable learning environment, while encouraging children to question and use the “the scientific method”. The show is specially designed using readily available materials so that children can be mesmerized with the simplicity and powerful impact of Science around us.

Science labs are fascinating but often contain dangerous materials. Science museums are fun but consist of jumbo models, making children feel that science deals with sophistication and is an expensive career to pursue. However this idea stands far from reality. Thus, we designed a Hands-on mobile exhibition with a theme- “PLEASE TOUCH” instead of the conventional exhibition theme of “do not touch”. The exhibits include amazing science experiences, models and set up constructed out of materials that are usually available all around us. The models are designed to have a sturdy nature so that children can play around and the exhibit can be easily set up and installed in no time.

As a part of promoting the idea of “mathematics for all” ; we set up an exhibition representing somewhat a market place, where participants are required to form small teams with family, friends and even strangers in a short time before engaging estimation challenges. They are allowed to spend only a few minutes around each stall and carefully estimate the weight, length, volume, number associated with some items that we see and use daily. Some exhibits are  based on comparative analysis, while some others are needed to be estimated as accurately as possible for increasing the probability of receiving awards and gift hampers at the end of the Mela.

STEAM is an integrated approach of learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Several advanced countries around the globe are already integrating this latest approach with their mainstream education system.

Steam activity centers provide an alternate way to amalgamate this approach. Students, who participate in steam learning think outside the box, feel safe to express innovative and creative ideas and take ownership over learning. They engage in collaborative learning and become increasingly curious.
